“This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realize that it is August: the summer’s last stand.” ~Sara Baume

Summer is winding down as days grow shorter and kids go back to school. I'm feeling all the feels.
I'm reminding myself and you to stay soft, to take things slow and pause for mindful breaths. Rush-and-hurry is the enemy.
"Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance, and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August Sun."
~Kent Nerburn
Beautiful music by Jacob Narverud and the Tallgrass Chamber Choir here

"She’ll come at dusky first of day,
White over yellow harvest's song.
Upon her dewy rainbow way
She shall be beautiful and strong.
The lidless eye of noon shall spray
Tan on her ankles in the hay,
Shall kiss her brown the whole day long.
And I will follow her away
I'll know her in the windows, tall
Above the crickets of the hay.
I'll know her when her odd eyes fall,
One May-blue, one November-grey.
I'll watch her from the red barn wall
Take down her rusty scythe, and call.
And I will follow her away."
