My NASA Gardening Grandfather

My grandfather was a master gardener for NASA.

He was a gentle man with kind eyes and a jovial laugh. He could make any plant flourish! Oh the abundance of flowers and woods we grew up in. We had fresh vegetables for dinner. My grandmother's roses lined the walkways into the cottage and a greenhouse held unknown wonders. We would go for walks and listen as he pointed out plants. He showed us banana trees he had grown in the Florida sun. He opened up one of the fruits, pointing to little black seeds inside.

Each Christmas, he and Grandma would give us a fancy new Science Encyclopedia for that year with gold leaf edges. It was lovingly wrapped under the tree. . but my childish understanding floundered...What? School work for Christmas? I didn't comprehend it at the time, but I understand it now.

Today in his honor, I'm taking a video walk with you in our patio garden and yard. I hope you press play and enjoy!

Make today an adventure,
